Upcoming Events

Baseball Alberta will represent Baseball Canada by sending 5 children and 1 chaperone to the World Children's Baseball Fair in Japan. The only cost to the Children/ Chaperone would be your flight to Vancouver.
(1) The World Children’s Baseball Fair (WCBF), founded by home run kings Hank Aaron and Sadaharu Oh, is an event held annually to promote worldwide baseball expansion, and at the same time, to provide a tool for international exchange among the different nations around the world.
(2) During the WCBF event, the children will have opportunity to learn the correct, BASIC SKILLS of baseball, with emphasis on fun, participation, teamwork and friendship. This is a time for the children to enjoy and share their love of baseball and learn worldwide culture.
(3) The participants will attend morning baseball clinics instructed by coaches who are selected by the International Baseball Federation (IBAF).
(4) Each afternoon and evening, the participants will partake in cultural and recreational activities to further enhance cultural understanding and appreciation.
WCBF Information:
(1) Date: Sunday, July 22nd, 2012 – Monday, July 30th, 2012
(2) Location: Mie, Japan
(3) Children’s Dormitory: Kumano Youth Outdoor Learning Center
(4) Participating Countries/Regions: 15 Countries have been invited to attend.
PARTICIPANTS’ (CHILDREN) QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) Passports: Participants must have valid passport with nationality of country invited.
(2) Children’s Age Requirement: Child participants MUST be 10 or 11 years old as of July 22, 2012. That is, their birth date must be between July 23, 2000 and July 22, 2002.
(3) The WCBF event week lasts nine days which requires stamina and endurance. Thus, all participants must be in good health.
CHAPERONE QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) A chaperone (not a parent of participating children) must be chosen to accompany the children on behalf of your federation.
(2) The chaperone MUST be an adult (over 21 years of age), and MUST BE FLUENT IN ENGLISH. He/she should have experience in dealing with groups of children of this age. Also, he/she has good knowledge of baseball.

* Chaperones please include a police background check with your letter.

The Edmonton International Baseball Foundation (EIBF) and the International Baseball Federation (IBF) have announced that Edmonton will be the host city for the 2012 Women's World Cup. This 8 country, 36 game event will be held from August 10th - 19th, 2012 with the majority of the games being played at Telus Field. This is the second time this event has been awarded to Edmonton, the last time was in 2004.
EIBF requires your support we are in need of 16 young ladies ranging in age 14 to 17 to be bat girls for this event.
We also require Program sellers for all games as well as many other volunteer positions need to be filled.
